Starting March 14, 2016 the new Presque Isle Twp. Fire Department will begin operating under the management and mentorship of the City of Alpena Fire Department. AFD will be responding to emergencies while the new department is being established, then step back within three years when it can stand on its own. The new Presque Isle Township Fire Department will be a part of the township government and will be controlled by township elected officials. It will operate from the old District 2 station on US23.
