Entry level firefighter - certified and/or non-certified

Requirements
All new applicants are required to submit an application for membership and shall be approved by the Board of Directors prior to being presented to the General Membership for final approval.

New members will serve a probationary period equal to the time required for them to achieve the level of training required for their position with the Falkville Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department. This period shall not be less than six (6) months.

Must be eighteen (18) years of age or older.

Reside no further than two (2) road miles outside of the coverage area of the Falkville Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department.

Possess a valid Alabama Drivers License.

Meet current Alabama minimum vehicle insurance standards and be insurable.

Must have at least a minimum of a high school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) equivalent.

Active member will be defined by the General Falkville Volunteer Fire Department Station Policy Statement as adopted by the Board of Directors and General Membership.

Must obtain National Incident Management System (NIMS) training courses consisting of IS-100, IS-200, IS-700, IS-800 and any additional courses as required by the governing body within sixty (60) calendar days of being approved for membership.


Firefighter:
• Must obtain minimum Pro-Board Certification for Firefighter I and II, Hazardous Materials Awareness / Operations, and medical training consisting of either First (1st) Responder, Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) or Emergency Medical Technician – Basic (EMT-B). Within two (2) years of department membership, Medical and/or First-Aid within one (1) year of department membership.

• Must complete training or be enrolled for training within one (1) calendar year of being approved for membership.


Medical:
• Must obtain a minimum of Emergency Medical Technician – Basic (EMT-B).

• Must complete training or be enrolled for training within one (1) calendar year of being approved for membership.




Volunteer Requirements and Acknowledgement Qualifications For Support Roster:

Support personnel shall not have a vote in any election or on motions made in general meetings.


Additional Requirements.

• Attendance to eighty percent (80%) of meetings, functions, drills and/or training activities of the Falkville Fire & Rescue Department.
• Respond to seventy percent (70%) of actual working structure fires.
• Attend a minimum of four (4) hours training each month.
• Successfully complete a basic training performance test.
• Complete and receive a valid Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) course and card.
• Complete and receive a valid Emergency Vehicle Operator Course (EVOC) certificate.



Falkville Fire & Rescue Department Training & Work Performance Test:

• Self Contained Breathing Apparatus {SCBA} familiarization and use.
• Carry and/or drag a one-hundred (100) pound rescue dummy one-hundred (100) feet.
• Carry a fifty (50) foot section of two and one-half inch (2½”) hose up a stair way and return to the starting point.
• Climb up and down an extended ladder in a fixed position.
• Advance a charged one and three-quarter (1¾) inch hose line one-hundred fifty (150) feet and operate nozzle in full protective turnout gear.
