All training is provided at no cost to you. We will provide you with the training needed to meet the state requirements
What is expected of you….? As a new member of the GFD you would be asked to complete the minimum mandatory training required
by the State of Minnesota.
To attend 50% of monthly meetings held the first and 3rd Monday of each month.
Respond to 33% of emergency incidents dispatched.

Types of Emergencies
We respond to many different types of incidents, some examples are:
Vehicle / Auto Accidents
Vehicle Fires
Structure / House Fires
Hazardous Materials Leaks / Spills
EMS / Medical

Volunteer Category: Firefighter, EMT


Requirements
Complete a basic firefighting class of approximately 100 hours before being able to fight fires.

Firefighters also must attend federally mandated annual hazardous materials training, which can range from 10 to 25 hours.

Although re-certification is not as time-demanding as the initial training, it is another demand that volunteers must fit into their busy schedules.
