Description
North Lenoir Volunteer Fire & Rescue is a group of dedicated volunteers serving more than 8,600 residents and a variety of commercial properties and manufacturing facilities in a 52.9 square mile district in northern Lenoir County, just outside of Kinston, NC. Our department consists of 3 stations, 10 apparatus and approximately 50 volunteer members that respond to more than 400 calls per year. We train regularly, constantly honing and learning new lifesaving skills as we work to provide the highest standard of professionalism in our community.

Requirements
Membership of this department is a commitment. Members are required to maintain at least 36 hours of training each year (provided free of charge). Members are also required to attend monthly meetings and trainings.

Any person of good moral character, physically sound, and who has attained the age of 18 may submit an application for admission to the department. The applicant must have a written application on file with the Board of Directors at least seven (7) days prior to the board meeting.

Prospective members must physically reside within a six (6) mile radius of North Lenoir station 1, 2 or 3. No member shall have his or her name on the active roll of any other volunteer fire department. This does not apply to those who are members of volunteer rescue squads, volunteer EMS services, or paid fire departments.

All applicants must undergo a complete criminal background check and driver history check before being submitted to the membership for approval.

Prospective members may be required to have a medical physical and submit to a drug test before being accepted. Due to the work performed by our department and the duties required of its members, North Lenoir reserves the right to accept or reject this application due to the findings of these checks.
