Description
We are looking for Volunteer Firefighters with or without experience to assist in responding on calls in our service area. The need for volunteers is for both communities, Madras and Culver. Jefferson County Fire provides Training during both evening and daytime hours three time per week to better accommodate the Volunteers work schedules.
Volunteer Firefighters play an important role in serving the District's needs

Requirements
Every Volunteer with the District shall:
1. Be Eighteen (18) years of age or older; Junior Firefighters sixteen (16) to eighteen (18)
2. Possess a valid driver's license and be insurable by the District Insurance carrier
3. Live within the boundaries and time limits based on Volunteer position and applicable District policy
4. Complete an application, pass a background check, interview, physical agility test and District orientation prior to being accepted as a probationary Volunteer.
5. Adhere to all training requirements based on Volunteer position as set by the District
6. Successfully pass a six (6) month probationary period, and be accepted as a full member of the Volunteer Association.

A. Volunteer Firefighters shall successfully complete the following proficiency standards within six (6) months of entering the department:
a. Knowledge of firefighting tools and their uses.
b. Knowledge of compartment contents on all apparatus.
c. Use of self contained breathing apparatus.
d. Operations of the quick attack brush engines.
e. Rescue practices class.

B. Within the first twelve (12) months, completion of the following training:
a. Complete an Entry Level Firefighter Academy.
b. Complete an S-130/S-190 Wildland Firefighting class.
