What do you get from being a Volunteer Firefighter with Spring Fire Department?

- Ability to staff on a fire truck up to (90) 12 hour shifts per year with compensation

What does Spring Fire Department get form You?
- A trained individual that will work side by side full-time, part-time and volunteer personnel assisting citizens in our community and surrounding communities
- An individual that staffs no less than (4) 12 hour shift per month for In-district members and (5) 12 hour shifts per month for Out-district members, to ensure a rapid response to emergency scenes

Requirements
Volunteers must live within the Spring Fire Department/Harris County ESD #7 territory. A map of our territory can be found at https://springfd.com/page/coverage-area

Applicant Process:
- Complete the application process with Spring Fire Department

Candidate Firefighter Process (Required for All Successful Applicants):
- Attends Spring Fire Department Orientation (4-hour class)
- Obtain AHA Health Care Provider CPR
- Complete Boater Safety Course
- Attends Candidate Academy (5 weeks, 1 night per week)
- Complete NFPA 1500 Blood Borne Pathogens Safety
- Complete Sexual Harassment Awareness
- Complete Workplace Diversity
- Complete NIMS 100, 200, 700, 703, 800

Recruit (All Non-Certified Candidates):
- Complete Courage to be Safe
- Attend Spring Fire Department Recruit School (17 weeks, 1 night per week)
- Obtain State Firefighters’ & Fire Marshalls’ Association Firefighter 1 Certification

Cadet (All SFFMA, TCFP or IFSAC Certified Firefighter Candidates):
- Complete Spring Fire Department Phase Testing Program (8 months)
