Description
The City of Sumiton Department of Fire and Rescue Services are currently looking for applicants for the position of Volunteer Firefighter.

We have numerous openings which will be available to fill the coming year. Our department runs the city limits of Sumiton along with a large jurisdiction including the Bryan Community, Dilworth Community and Rocky Ridge area. The department averages over 1200 + calls a year. If you are looking to become a career Firefighter/EMT than we are the place for you, a large amount of our staff started as volunteers and are now in full time Fire Departments and EMS agencies including ( Birmingham Fire and Rescue , U.S Steel Fire/Rescue, Alabama Power Emergency Response Team and Regional Paramedics Services. If you choose to apply and have all requirements than after your probationary year the city will pay your Tuition for EMT-Paramedic school. We also are not only a department that runs fires we respond as a All-Hazards approach including Technical Rescues ( High angle Rope , Vehicle and Machinery Extrication , Confined Spaces), HAZMAT / WMD Response and all medical calls in the jurisdiction. We are an ALS or Advanced Life Support Department which means we have Paramedics respond on all calls and deliver Advanced Prehospital Care. We do require new applicants to respond to as many calls as possible during their probationary period. This gets the applicants time to learn all of the necessary equipment , Standard Operating Guidelines and day to day operations of the department. We do hope we have sparked more curiosity about the Fire Service and if you have any questions or want to apply please feel free to contact me at any time.
