Description
Are you looking for a way to serve the community in a meaningful, fulfilling manner? The Hiawatha Fire Department is in search of people who want to make a difference in the community! Volunteer Firefighters help their neighbors by responding to fire, medical and other service calls. Initial fire training is provided free of charge, with ongoing training twice a month. Firefighters are assigned to crews that are on duty together. Those crews assist in taking care of the fire station and equipment. Firefighters are also provided the opportunity to attend EMT class with reimbursement upon successful completion of certification. They help in other ways too- by participating in fire prevention activities and doing standby at community events.

Volunteering with the fire department is a great way to learn new skills, meet new people, and serve the community in a meaningful, fulfilling way.
