Description
Become part of the tradition, become a volunteer firefighter for the Toronto Volunteer Fire Department. The Toronto Fire Department is a combination department with 6 career firefighters and as many as 31 volunteers. TFD has been serving the City of Toronto and surrounding area since 1888. TVFD picks up the cost of required fire fighting class, and often approves Firefighter 1/Firefighter 2 certification programs. TFD works closely with the Jefferson County Technical Rescue/Region 8 USAR and Hazmat team, providing members opportunities to branch out into technical rescue and hazmat disciplines.

Requirements
*Must live within loop around Toronto defined by County Road 56 to the South of Toronto, OH State Route 213 to the West, and State Route 152 to the North.
*Must have own transportation
*Must be at least 18 years old
*Must complete minimum Volunteer Fire Fighter class at 36 hours plus 8 hours of informal training in house within a year of being admitted to the department
