Spindale Fire Department is accepting applications for the position of volunteer firefighter. We have a few openings for this position. Volunteers work alongside our paid staff to ensure that Spindale Fire Department provides exceptional fire protection and customer service to the citizens and visitors of the town of Spindale. Spindale Fire Department is a progressive department with an active fire and injury prevention program. There are many opportunities for volunteers to be involved. This is an exciting opportunity for individuals to make a difference in the community. Individuals will receive training that is recognized statewide and can be applied to furthering themselves in a career in the fire service for those that are interested in this path. Spindale Fire Department was founded in 1923 and has always valued volunteer firefighters which currently make up a large percentage of our department.

Requirements
Interested individuals must be at least eighteen years of age, have a valid North Carolina driver’s license, reliable transportation, able to pass a drug test, and have a clear criminal background. Individuals must also be able to pass an annual physical which is required to ensure that the individual is able to safely perform duties. Successful candidates will then be given a time to come to station for interview. The interview is in place as a way for us to get to know you and also to answer any questions you may have and make you aware of fire department benefits and expectations. The final step is a physical ability test. The physical ability test is a course designed to put candidates through tasks that will be encountered as he/she performs their duties as a volunteer firefighter.
