The East Franklin Fire Department, located directly next to the Rutgers University Campus in the City of New Brunswick is looking for Volunteer Firefighters. We are one of ten fire companies in Franklin Township and we cover a densely populated 3.5 square miles, bordering the City of New Brunswick with approximately 30,000 people. We respond to both natural and man made emergencies, totaling approximately 700 calls for service per year. We have a multiple pieces of apparatus including a Ladder Company, Engine Company, Squad Company and Air Truck, along with several support vehicles and Chiefs vehicles.

All training and equipment is provided free of charge. We give free access to wi-fi, as well as printing services and laundry services for our membership. We provide overnight accomodations for our in-house overnight duty crews.

All we ask of you is your time, dedication and commitment with providing the best of service to the community of Franklin Township Fire District #3.

Requirements
Emergency Services experience (Firefighting, EMT/Paramedic, CPR/First Aid) is always welcome, but not required. As stated above, all training and equipment is provided free of charge.

We have Duty Crews, which run 6 days a week from 7pm-10:30pm. We ask you attend at least one Duty Crew per week.

We have two department meetings per month. We ask you at least attend one of the two per month.

We have both company and district drills every month, we ask that you attend as many as feasible, giving consideration to your work and school schedule.

You maintain your membership in good standing by peforming the required credit hours quarterly (every 3-months). As a probationary member, we require you to complete 40 credit hours every quarter.

Duty Crew is worth 4 credits. Fire calls are worth 1 credit per call answered. A monthly meeting is worth 1-2 credits. Company drills and District drills are worth credits based on hours completed. Miscellanous credits can be earned with approval of the Chief or President, for most in-house cleaning details and extracurricular training sessions.
