Orange County Rural District one VFD is seeking applicants for the positions of Firefighter. This will be an opportunity for you to make a positive difference in your community. Being a member of a volunteer fire department requires you to be actively involved in a physically and mentally demanding environment. Our department responds to wildland, vehicle, and structure fires. We also make several EMS assist calls with the ambulance service. We also provide vehicle, machinery extrication, water rescue and assist in natural disasters.
This experience will allow each recruit the opportunity to become a highly trained professional in the fire service, you will be required to take a mandatory firefighter course which consist of usually two weekends at a local training facility. After that you will be able to respond as a firefighter. Each recruit will be able to advance their training and become certified as Firefighter 1/2 which will allow you to become trained in specialty areas such as rope rescue, vehicle extrication, and fire instructor. Firefighters may also become trained as Emergency medical technicians. With this training being funded by the department.
