Description
The Hughestown Hose Conpany is looking for volunteer EMTs, Paramedics, or other profesionally licensed emergency pre-hospital professionals to help staff our two fire service Basic Life Support ambulances. Our ambulances provides Basic Life Support services to the Hughestown Borough and many of the neighboring communities in the 67 square mile area of Greater Pittston Area. Over the last three years, our department has seen a huge increase in EMS call volume with our two BLS ambulances doing nearly 500 calls and no sign of this steady increase ending anytime in the foreseeable future..

Although this is a volunteer position, pay incentives are often provided to ambulance crew members on a per call basis to compensate for the time they have invested.

Requirements
All applicants must have or submit to a PA State Police Criminal History Check and a PA Childline Child Abuse Record Check. Personnel are encouraged to be age 18 years or older. Junior Members, age 14 years old to 17 years old, may join and train but will be limited to the duties they may perform.

Currently licensed PA Emergency Medical Technicians, Paramedics, and other Emergency Pre-Hospital Professionals are required to provide proof of valid and active PA license. Proof of current Professional Rescuer CPR/AED training also required.

The department will provide assistance to those interested in obtaining PA Basic Emergency Medical Technician certification. Reimbursement of class and testing expenses are available for those that successfully complete and obtain certification.

The department also offers on going continuing education training throughout the year to support the continuing education requirement of EMT licensing at little to no cost to our members.
