“It is our duty to prevent and protect from all fires and provide emergency medical aid to our community.”

The unincorporated area known as Wimer/Evans Valley is north of the town of Rogue River with an approximately 15-minute drive to I-5 and halfway between Grants Pass (20 mins.) and Medford (30 mins). The fire district has an estimated population of 5,000 patrons in an area of 26 square miles. The fire district is one of the major staples of the community, and we are always looking for people from near and far to help us serve the community that we care about. The fire district is also roughly a 30 minute drive to Rogue Community College and Southern Oregon University.

The Evans Valley Fire District is a rural fire protection district that responds to an average of 450 calls for service a year. The fire district ‘s family consists of a paid fire chief, paid training officer, 6 college students, 10-20 volunteer responders, and 30-50 support/auxiliary volunteer. We provide services through duty shifts and home response. The Evans Valley Fire District also provides automatic and mutual aid to our greater Rogue Valley fire service family.
We are continuously in need and searching for volunteer responders to staff duty shifts and who live in the local community to respond from home.
We provide you with all the uniform, PPE, and firefighting gear you need to perform your job duties.
All training is provided including CPR/First Aid, Basic Firefighter, Apparatus Driver/Operator, and National Incident Management.

Requirements
Junior Volunteers: 16 years old, valid drivers license, maintain good standing in school and a Grade Point Average of 2.8 or higher
All Other Levels: 18 years old, valid driver’s license, insurable driving record, pass a pre-employment drug test and criminal history background check. Have an interview with the district training officer.
Responders: Firefighters must pass a physical ability test. Provide 24 hours of station standby hours a month and attend training sufficient to maintain your certifications.
Students: Pursue ANY college degree and meet the requirements of a response volunteer. Students are placed on a shift, (A,B,C) and are required to work ten 24hr shifts a month on a 48/96hr rotation.
Support/Auxiliary: live in the community of Wimer and or Rogue River. Participate in fundraising activities, local community events, and district support activities.
