Stay-at-Home Parents needed as daytime Firefighters (Structural and/or Wildland)

Garfield County Fire District #1

949 Main Street
Pomeroy, WA 99347
509-843-1533

Description
Garfield County Fire District 1 is in need of daytime volunteer Structure and/or Wildland Firefighters. Are you a mom or dad with kids in school during the day? Are you looking for a new challenge to fill you daytime hours while the kids are gone? Do you want to give back to the community? We could use your help!

We are often short-staffed during the day because most of our volunteer firefighters are working and are unable to respond. We desperately need volunteers that are available to respond during the day.

All training is provided and you won’t be asked to do anything that you are not qualified to do.

Firefighter training is held on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday evenings from 6 pm – 8 pm of each month. Structural firefighting training is held in the fall and winter month, wildland firefighting training is held in the spring and early summer months. Late summer and early fall trainings are suspended during harvest.

Emergency calls can last anywhere from 30 minutes to several hours. We understand that you may need to be back to meet your children after school and arrangements can usually be made to get you back in time.

WOMAN ARE STRONGLY ENCOURAGED TO APPLY!

Call or stop by the station and we’ll be happy to answer all your questions.
