Description
Rescue squad members provide a wide variety of rescue services, including technical rescue (e.g., vehicle crash extrication, technical rope rescue, farm accident rescue, light building collapse/USAR), water rescue and recover, wilderness search and rescue, and other procedures required to locate, access and stabilize lost, missing or entrapped individuals. Squad members also provide assistance to EMS, standby first aid and support services for public events, traffic control at emergency incident scenes and public events, and a variety of other public safety services. Squad members are expected to complete both initial and continuing training, participate actively in emergency response, public safety and community service activities, perform equipment and station maintenance, and support fund raising activities.

Requirements
Requirements for this position include:
1) live, work or attend school full time in Madison County, KY;
2) be at least 18 years old;
3) have a high school diploma or GED (or be actively attending a high school or equivalent educational program);
4) possess a high degree of honesty and integrity;
5) have a strong interest in community service and be willing to commit adequate time and effort to squad membership;
6) have no serious criminal record;
7) have the physical ability to perform moderately strenuous work;
8) be willing to comply with the policies, operational procedures, and protocols of the squad.

Prior experience and/or EMT certification is helpful but NOT required. All required training is available through the squad and/or through state-sponsored training courses.
