As a probationary firefighter/first responder you will join the department for a probationary period. During that time you learn all the operational aspects of the Hecker Fire Department and maintain minimum training requirements, respond to both fire and EMS calls, enroll in an Illinois State Fire Marshall Basic Firefighter Class and become certified, complete an Emergency Medical First Responder Course and become licensed with the Illinois Department of Public Health, and obtain an Illinois Class B Non-CDL Driver’s License. After completing all of the above listed requirements you would then be eligible for promotion to the rank of Firefighter/First Responder.
