Description
The East Side Fire Department provides fire suppression and auto extrication services in the eastern unincorporated areas of Belleville and the southwest portions of Shiloh. We respond to approximately 350 calls per year including building fires, vehicle fires, brush fires, vehicle accidents, electrical hazards, fire alarms, carbon monoxide alarms, potential leaks, weather related incidents, and various other calls.

We operate out of two stations. Station 1 is located at 1723 N Belt East, Belleville, IL 62221. Station 2 is located at 3111 East B Street Rd, Belleville, IL 62221. Station 1 houses an engine, a ladder truck, and a brush truck. Station 2 houses two engines and a ladder truck.

Requirements
Probationary firefighters must:
-be at least 18 years old.
-have a high school diploma or GED.
-Possess a valid drivers license and automobile insurance.
-Obtain Basic Operations Firefighter (Firefighter I) certification with 2 years
-Attend a minimum of 2 training sessions per month
-Respond to a minimum of 20% of calls for service.
