Description
Under general supervision, a Paid Call Firefighter must provide firefighting and rescue operations
support in response to fires, disasters, and other emergency incidents in serving to protect both life
and property; and to perform other related duties as required.
Paid Call Firefighters perform duties comparable to that of regular full-time Firefighters; however, a Paid Call Firefighter is an extra help employee of the West Plains Fire Department. Paid on Call Firefighters generally have a full time job and respond to or participate in fire department activities outside of their normal work hours.

Minimum Qualifications Required
1. Must reside in the city limits of West Plains and be a full time resident, some exceptions do apply with Fire Chief’s approval.
2. Must be 18 years of age.
3. Must hold a valid Missouri driver’s license and have their own means of transportation, either as owner or be the insured driver of
vehicle.
4. Must be physically capable to perform the duties of a Firefighter.
5. Ability to learn a wide variety of firefighting duties and methods within a reasonable probationary period.
