The North Fond du Lac Fire Department is currently looking for motivated individuals that have strong interests in becoming firefighters and EMT’s. We currently have a roster with 41 dedicated members that are skillfully trained to serve our community. Our fleet is comprised of two engines, one rescue squad, two ambulances, and one utility trailer used for ice water rescue. In 2016 our fire department responded to approximately 110 calls and our ambulance responded to approximately 450 calls. Our call volume has been steadily rising and the need for staffing has risen. Requirements:
• Must be 18 years of age for full membership
• Must be 16 years of age for the cadet program
• Must have a valid drivers license
• Must be physically able to perform strenuous tasks in high stress scenarios

What will happen after you submit your application?
The application will be reviewed by our current officers. They will make a determination if the applicant should receive an interview. If interviewed, the applicant will be given information that is pertinent to the department and how the department operates. Once the decision to hire is made, the application will be sent to the NFDL PD for a background check. If the applicant passes the background check, the applicant be required to undertake a pre-employment screening and physical ability test.

EMT - To obtain an EMT license you must attend a local technical college and follow the standards on becoming a nationally registered EMT. The class is approximately 200 hours long and runs over one semester. The class is both practical skills and hours in a classroom. To become an Advanced EMT (AEMT) or Paramedic, additional classroom hours as well as more clinical hours are required. Our ambulance is staffed 24/7/365. It is staffed with one paramedic along with an AEMT or EMT.

Firefighter - When becoming a firefighter, the fire department is able to provide all state certification courses for free. You will be able to obtain basic firefighting skills with Firefighter I which is required within a year of hire. All firefighters are Paid-on-Call which means that every call is an ‘’all-call’’ meaning every available member needs to respond.
