Description
The Dwight Fire Protection District is currently looking for paid-on-call firefighters. If you are interested in giving back to your community and learning a new skill, we will train you! Call the Dwight Fire Protection District at (815) 584-2373, stop in and observe one of our Monday night drills or email the fire chief at pjohnson@dwightfire.org with any questions.

We are accepting applications from Dwight residents as well as interested individuals who don't live in Dwight. All members that are hired who live "out of district" will be required to staff the Dwight Fire Protection District station for 8 hours every week on a "volunteer" unpaid basis and will be required to attend weekly training and monthly meetings that are scheduled to occur on Monday evenings per department policy. Members will be paid a "per call" stipend for any calls they respond to during their shift and will also be paid a "special pay rate" for conducting fire prevention activities and building inspections during their shift as well. If an out of district member is unable to staff the station during a particular week, the total number of minimum hours that the member must staff the station in a month must equal 40 hours. These hours are requested to be worked between the hours of 8 am to 4 pm on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. In return the fire department will provide members with training, tuition reimbursement, use of our fitness facility, uniforms, and personal protective equipment.
