Description
The Hershey Volunteer Fire Company, in an initiative to recruit and retain members, and in an effort to reduce response
times and improve public safety, will provide facilities for approved candidates to live and sleep in the fire station. In
exchange for free room and board, the live-in members will provide services to the fire company.

There are many benefits including helping your community, being part of our family, insurance, training, top-quality exercise equipment, concerts, and picnics. The Hershey Volunteer Fire Company is the busiest all-volunteer department in Dauphin County, answering approximately 900 calls a year for service. We are also very involved in Fire Prevention year-round, as well as other public outreach events.

Firefighters are the essential member of the department, responding to calls and preparing for responses.
Live-ins provide 36 hours or more of "on-duty/assigned" time at the Hershey Volunteer Fire Company each week.
Daily, weekly, and monthly chores are assigned.

Requirements
Complete probationary membership period with HVFC
18 years of age and a high school graduate or GED
Essentials of Firefighting (Interior) or equivalent
Hazmat awareness or higher
CPR/AED, Bloodborne pathogens

Substantial employment (30 hours plus per week)
Full-time student
Part-time student and employment of 16 plus hours per week.
Minimum 2.5 GPA while in school
