Description
Volunteer Firefighter/ EMTs are responsible for work performed in combating, extinguishing and preventing fires and in the protection of life and property. Volunteer personnel are critical in performing fire suppression and prevention, public education and other emergency service activities. Some of the duties of a Volunteer Firefighter/EMT are rescuing people from cars and burning buildings and administering first aid. Being a Volunteer Firefighter/ EMT is a competitive and challenging position. It requires a strong commitment towards education, training, perseverance, and helping the community. We are looking for professionals that are dedicated, resilient, have strong customer service skills and who are willing and ready to assist people and protect lives.

Job Duties as a Firefighter/ EMT may include, but are not limited to:
• Respond to and provide various emergency services such as fire suppression, rescue, and emergency medical services.
• Transport patients to the hospital
• Perform Basic Life Support Services
• Fire suppression and prevention
• Operate power tools and manual tools
• Drive and operate Fire/ EMS apparatuses such as an aid unit, fire engine, support unit, water tender, and other emergency vehicles
• Continue training and maintenance of certifications
• Maintain facilities and apparatuses
• Attend and participate in Public Education Events
• Participate in Community Outreach
• Ability to pass certain health standards

Requirements
Minimum Requirements:
• Applicants must be 18 years of age or older
• High school Graduate/ Diploma or GED
• Possess and maintain a valid Washington State Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record
• Pass a comprehensive background check
• Must have IFSAC Firefighter 1 (or equivalent training) and/ or EMT-B certification
• Must have the ability to pass a physical exam
• Maintain mental alertness and physical strength to perform all activities and tasks related to firefighter/ EMT activities

Preferred Certifications:
• IFSAC Firefighter 1 (if current EMT-B)
• IFSAC Firefighter 2
• IFSAC Hazardous Materials Awareness
• IFSAC Hazardous Materials Operations
• National Registered EMT-B (If current Firefighter)
• Incident Command System 100, 200, 700 certifications
• National Wildland Contingency Group Wildland Firefighter Type 2
