Our District covers 212 square miles in the western portion of Taney County, completely surrounding the vacation mecca of Branson, Missouri, and responding from twelve fire/rescue stations strategically spaced throughout the district. We have a resident population of more than 27,000 with over seven million tourists in the area every year that either stay in or travel through our district to visit Branson. The District protects a diverse area of beautiful hills and lakes in the "Ozarks" plateau. Unique protection and response challenges are posed in this area along with regular fire responses, including protecting densely populated areas with condos, water emergencies on one of the three lakes, wildland interface issues and very rural coverage areas.
We are all volunteer with a small paid support staff. The district operates three specialty teams for Haz-Mat, technical rescue and water rescue. Three of our stations have resident quarters to allow firefighters to live there. One of our station even has two three bedroom apartments for your entire family to live there for a very reduced rent. Thank you for showing an interest in the Western Taney County Fire District.
