Description
Lewis County Fire District 5 continually seeks applicants for Volunteer Firefighter and/or EMT
positions. Successful applicants will perform duties of a Volunteer Firefighter and/or EMT in
responding to emergencies in our 65 square mile response area. Our Fire District is
predominantly volunteer; the community depends very heavily on our well trained volunteer staff of
emergency personnel.
Being a Volunteer Firefighter/EMT carries with it many benefits which are fully funded by the Fire
District without any cost to you as a volunteer. They include:
• Training courses, training supplies
• Equipment and uniforms
• On duty accident and disability insurance
• Volunteer firefighter’s pension program
• Nominal fee reimbursements for duty shifts
• Fully funded membership in the District’s Volunteer Firefighters’ Association. Membership offers many

Requirements
Must be a Washington State Certified EMT-B or obtain certification within one year of hire.
- Lateral applicants must have at least one year of documented Fire/EMS agency experience.
- Must agree to provide a designated number of scheduled duty shift hours. The number of hours is
variable and based on the total number of current active personnel.
- Applicants are required to successfully complete an orientation program and then complete
annual training requirements.
- Applicants must have a valid Washington State Driver's License and submit a driving record abstract
with an acceptable driving record per Department policies.
- Applicants must submit to drug screening and criminal background investigation pursuant
to RCW 43.43.830, the results of which may disqualify some applicants.
