Description
The Middlebury Fire Department is actively seeking members of the community to join the department as firefighters. Residents of the town of Middlebury, who are 18 years or older, are welcome to apply. High school students under the age of 18 are welcome to apply to be a Cadet.

Prospective members are welcome to attend a monthly meeting on the second Wednesday of the month or and end-of-the-month training on the last Wednesday of the month. Please email middfd54@gmail.com for more information.

Requirements
Firefighters are required to attend the monthly meeting and training on the second Wednesdays of the month, and firefighters are expected to attend end of month training on the last Wednesday of the month. In addition, throughout the year, the department holds work sessions and an annual fundraiser. Firefighters are expected to respond to calls as often as possible, which come in at any hour of the day and night.
Within the first year, probationary members must complete the Firefighter 1 program, offered by the Vermont Fire Academy. This program is approximately 200 hours and runs from September through early May.
