Description
The Moore Haven Fire Department provides life safety, property conservation and incident stabilization to the entire central portion of Glades County, including the City of Moore Haven, the unincorporated communities of Indian Hills, Horseshoe Acres and Palmdale, and the major thoroughfare of US 27 from the Hendry County Line to the Highlands County Line. MHFD operates 2 engines, 1 brush truck and a multi-purpose unit out of 1 station and answers approximately 300 emergency calls per year. Firefighters are compensated with volunteer incentive pay for each run. Firefighter I, First Responder, Wildland Firefighter and Emergency Vehicle Operator courses are provided at no cost to the member.

Requirements
18 years of age, valid FL drivers license with clean record, no felony convictions or misdemeanors involving domestic violence or moral turpitude. Must be willing to attend Firefighter I course (night and weekend classes available) within 1 year of acceptance.
