Description
The Fire Chief is fully vested to manage a full-service Fire Department with extensive ALS ambulance responsibility. City operates a paid and volunteer department. Ideal candidate will possess a bachelor’s degree in business, fire science or a related field; Chief Fire Officer or Executive Fire Officer Certification. Must possess or have the ability to obtain a valid Alaska driver’s license.

Requirements
Graduation from high school or GED, preferably supplemented by a Bachelor’s Degree in Fire Science, Public Administration or a closely related field; and
Extensive related firefighting experience with some supervisory role; or
Any equivalent combination of experience, education and training which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform the work.
Possession of a driver’s license issued by the State of Alaska;
EMT-I certification in the State of Alaska, advanced certification preferred and ability to maintain certification on an on-going basis.
Extensive related firefighting experience with some supervisory role; or
Any equivalent combination of experience, education and training which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform the work.
