Description
Emergency Medical Technicians-Basic (EMT-B) volunteer responds to emergency calls to provide efficient and immediate care to the critically ill and injured, and to transport the patient to a medical facility. After receiving the call from the dispatcher, the EMT-B responds to the scene, either by personal vehicle or by driving the ambulance to address or location given (if certified), using the most expeditious route, depending on traffic and weather conditions. The EMT-B must observe traffic ordinances and regulations concerning emergency vehicle operation. Volunteer EMT’s may respond to 911 dispatches or cover standbys as the need arises. Volunteers are not scheduled employees and do not receive compensation. Volunteer EMT’s report to the Lieutenant, Assistant Captain, and/or Corps Captain. In the absence of noted leadership, volunteers may report to the EMS Manager or other Corps leadership.

Requirements
Current EMT-B or EMT-P certification in good standing with the PA Department of Health & Regional EMS Council
Current Healthcare Provider CPR/AED certification
PA State Police & Child Abuse Clearances less than 1 year old
*FBI Fingerprint card required if PA resident for less than 10 years
Photo ID

Valid driver's license with EMSVO or EVOC preferred (required to drive)
